This project explores how AI-generated content is creating confusion in media, blurring the line between truth and misinformation. Through this work, I aim to raise awareness, highlight real-world impacts, and provide tools to help detect fake media.

AI-generated content is often designed to evoke strong emotions, such as hate or sadness, to activate our System 1 thinking—quick, emotional reactions. Once engaged, algorithms amplify this content, feeding it to us repeatedly and reinforcing confirmation bias. Their goal is to keep us online by prioritizing engagement over accuracy, showing us what we’re likely to believe, regardless of whether it’s true or AI-generated.

Why I created this project.

This project is driven by my passion for journalism and communications. As a journalist, I believe in the power of information and its ability to shape societies. With the rise of AI-generated content, I saw an urgent need to explore how misinformation can spread and influence public perception. My goal is to raise awareness about the impact of AI on media and encourage people to think critically about the information they consume and share. Through this project, I hope to inspire people to take an informed approach to media in the digital age.
